Egg Prices Continue to Increase

Eggs caught the inflation bug! Eggs prices continue to be on the rise in grocery stores.

Currently large eggs are retailed at $3.96 per dozen, which is $0.46, or 13.14% more than prices from this time last year. This week a year ago, large eggs were retailed at $3.50 per dozen. 

Extra-large eggs are retailed at $3.49 per dozen. This is $0.61, or 21.18% more from this week a year ago's retail price of $3.52 per dozen. 

The U.S. shell egg market also cracked a new all-time high on Tuesday, September 20. According to the USDA, shell egg stocks on hand dropped 3.7% this week to the lowest levels recorded since the onset of the pandemic in March of 2020. The year-over-year supply deficit, which stood at roughly 10% just three weeks ago, has since widened to 25%...
